Simplex verb
Verb meaning: BUILD [build]
Comment: jiàn(zào) functions in the same way as build both syntactically and semantically. It is in itself a compound verb, consisting of the two synonymous verbs jiàn and zào, both meaning 'build'. Both jiàn and zào can be used independently, but the former is more formal than the latter. And jiànzào is the most formal one. When used in BA or BEI constructions, a complement is often used for syntactic and phonological reasons.
