Mandarin bāngzhù is generally used as a monotransitive verb taking two arguments. This ditransitive use of the verb is only popular among dialect speakers probably because their identification of the consistency between the meaning of a double-object construction and the implications of 'help' (bāngzhù) which usually means giving things.
