Gothic is the sole member of the Germanic family that preserves, only in the present tense, continuants of the PIE mediopassive. Hence, Gothic is the only Germanic language which displays a synthetic passive. Usually, these morphological passives have passive readings (for a discussion cf. Zanchi & Tarsi: 60-68).
