The term anticausativization indicates “the intransitive use of a transitive verb where the original inanimate object/P argument occurs as a subject” (Cennamo et al. 2015). In Old Latin this function can be encoded with additional morphology: one device is the synthetic mediopassive -r form (in the infectum stem).
